February 15, 2024 Regular Meeting

The Riverside Town Council met in regular session at 5:00 pm at the Riverside Town Hall with Mayor Pro Tem Edward Golden officiating. Council members present were Linda Brown and Lisa Lorenz. Also in attendance were Mike Tommervik, K.J. Schricker representing the Carbon County Comet and Riverside Clerk/Treasurer Jana C. Cook.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Golden led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.

MINUTES: January 11, 2024 Regular Meeting: Lorenz moved with Brown seconding to approve the minutes of the January 11, 2024 meeting.

FINANCIAL STATEMENT/BILLS: Council reviewed the financial statement and the unpaid bills report. Brown moved with Lorenz seconding to approve the financial statement and pay bills in the amount of $14,844.30. The motion passed.

INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS: Mike Tommervik told the council the 2nd annual Beef and Whiskey fundraiser will be September 7, 2024. The exact time has not yet been set, but it will be a 3 1/2 hour event.

REPORTS:

CCCOG: No report.

SOUTH CENTRAL WY EMSJPB: FY 2024 2nd Quarter: The council read the 2nd quarter report. There were no questions.

PARKS: No report.

SEWER: No report.

STREETS: No report.

SIERRA MADRE JOINT POWERS BOARD: Council read the minutes of the January 10, 2024 meeting.

MOSQUITO: No report.

90 DAYS DELINQUENT: There are no delinquent accounts.

ZONING/BUILDING: No report.

ACTION ITEMS: There were no action items.

ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA: The clerk told the council she has a copy of the Carbon County Visitors Council tourism master plan.

CORRESPONDENCE:

Grand Encampment Museum: The council received a letter from the Grand Encampment Museum Board of Directors requesting an annual grant of $500.00 to assist the museum in paying utilities. The clerk said this is the second year the museum has requested this amount. Lorenz moved with Brown seconding to approve the $500.00 request. The motion passed.

Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce: The council received an invitation to the annual dinner and awards celebration on March 14, 2024.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

MOU with Carbon County Sheriff's Department: The council had received copies of the MOU so there was little discussion. Lorenz moved with Brown seconding to approve the MOU with the Carbon County Sheriff's Department to provide law enforcement services in Riverside. The motion passed. The clerk will send the signed documents to Sheriff Bakken.

NEW BUSINESS: There was no new business.


There was discussion about the March 14, 2024 regular meeting. Lorenz said she would like to attend the chamber of commerce dinner, but would be unable to do so with the meeting starting at 5:00 pm. Brown said she would not be available on that date. Golden will also be unavailable. Lorenz asked if the meeting time be changed to 3:00 pm-the clerk had no objection to that. Brown said she could call in at that time. Lorenz moved with Brown seconding to change the meeting time of the March 14, 2024 meeting to 3:00 pm. The motion passed.

With no other business being brought before the council, the meeting was adjourned at 5:45 pm.
