The Riverside Town Council met in special session at 6:00 pm at the Riverside Town Hall with Mayor Leroy Stephenson presiding. Council members present were Fred Lorenz, Mark Helwick and Dean Webb. Also in attendance were Helen Weiland and Riverside Clerk/Treasurer Jana C. Cook. Allison Velez was in attendance by telephone.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
PUBLIC HEARING:
Special Permit Application-Cottonwood Cabins-Allison Velez, Matt Strawn: Stephenson called the special meeting to order at 6:03 pm. He asked the clerk if she had received any comments, either pro or con to the proposed special permit. The clerk said “no, there has been no comments “. Stephenson asked Mrs. Weiland if she had a comment. Weiland answer she was at the meeting to make sure “this gets done.” Stephenson asked the council if they had any comments.There were none. With no other discussion the public hearing was adjourned at 6:06 pm.
NEW BUSINESS:
Special Permit Application-Cottonwood Cabins-Allison Velez, Matt Strawn: Stephenson told the council the permit would be for three rental cabins and the occasional rental of the main house located at 409 and 411 First Street. Helwick said he was in favor of the permit, but said it would “not hurt” to review the permit in 3 years. Ms. Velez spoke in opposition to the review proposal, and Mrs. Weiland said there was no need for a review, the cabins have been used for rental cabins since the 1940’s. There was no further discussion on a possible review. Lorenz said the special permit needed to include the fact that the permit was nontransferable. The council agreed.
Webb moved with Helwick seconding to grant a special use permit to Allison Velez and Matt Strawn doing business as Taylor River LLC, Cottonwood Cabins. The permit will be for three rental cabins, an occasional fourth rental. The permit is nontransferable. The motion passed.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:13 pm.
